So much to do, so much to think about...

Everyone has their story about getting read for a new baby, and so do we.

The Big News

I would like to be able to say we found out we were pregnant and it was all magical like in the movies, but that wasn't really the case.

I had taken a pregnacy test several days prior and had a negative result. This was the week before 4th July weekend. We had plans to go to Mansfield and have breakfast with friends and then head up to Maine for a day or so. By the time the weekend came, I was still waiting for my period, but with the negative result I just thought I was late. I had planned on taking second test if there was still nothing by Saturday.

After breakfast with Blue, Liz, Josephine and Kevin we went to the mall to do some shopping. While waiting for someone to try on some clothing I ran down stairs and picked up another test. I hadn't planned on taking it until the next day, but after 3 cups of coffee I needed to use the bathroom and thought what the hell. I couldn't believe the little bar was pink.

I walked back to the store and found Michael waiting and talking with Blue. We stepped outside and I managed to tell him without letting the others know. Though we were surrounded by loved ones, we didn't want to tell anyone just yet. Kind of hard not to jump out of your skin when it comes to that kind of news.

Lex's Room

People who know us, know it's all about the Superheroes! We're hoping Lex is on the "List" ("Heroes" reference). I think even if it was a girl the baby's room would have been all Comic-Bookie!

We (Mike actually did the painting) painted the walls a light blue and I had to get creative for decorations since there isn't a hell of a lot of baby superhero stuff out there. I framed a series of Justice League drawing Gigi did in a mat that I made from comic books and created a mobile of heroes from a JLA display Mike had held onto. We're very happy with the room and hope Lex will love it too.

Check out some shoots, until you have a chance to see it in person!

How We Picked Our Baby's Name

Lex had a name and nickname before we started trying. Both Michael and I loved the name Alexander. We each had different reasons for John (in honor of my Father and Michael's Grandfather), but both agreed it was the perfect middle name.

As for his nickname, we wanted something a little different, plus there is no question that he will be a little evil mastermind as a child and Lex should suit him like a green powersuit.

Punxsutawney

Mr. Lex graced us with a possible early showing on Feb morning of February 2nd, 2007. Due to a little dehydration and a GI Bug I ended up in WETU early in the morning on Groundhog Day. I had contractions and wasn't sure I had felt any movement from Lex. The Doctor on call had us go in. Everything was alright with baby and Momma had 3 IV bags of fluid pumped into her. Daddy got no sleep and a very uncomfortable chair. But we were all okay.

Mike likes to say that Lex poked his head out and saw his shadow and went back in for a few weeks! Cute huh?
